Purposes of Optimist International To develop optimism as a philosophy of life utilizing the tenets of the Optimist Creed; to promote an active interest in good government and civic affairs; to inspire respect for the law; to promote patriotism and work for international accord and friendship among all people; to aid and encourage the development of youth, in the belief that the giving of one’s self in service to others will advance the well-being of humankind, community life and the world.
Canadian Children's Optimist Foundation Founded in 1988, the Canadian Children's Optimist Foundation is a Canadian charity recognized by the Canada Revenue Agency. For the foundation, the 2010-2011 Optimist year is a hinge since it officially took the reins of its destiny. Showing its independence in relation to the American Foundation, the vast majority of administrative activities are now managed from the office of Optimist International Canada in Montreal, QC Canada.
JOOI Clubs Youth Clubs, known as JOOI clubs are sponsored by the adult Optimist clubs. They have an independent structure from the Optimist club, inthat they make their own decisions and have their own board of directors. They also have separate programs, and the newsletter The Torch is entirely designed for them.
Optimist Programs Optimist International is recognized for its quality programs, including its public speaking contest, essay writing, and communication for the hearing impaired competitions. These scholarships offer young people the opportunity to measure up to themselves while allowing them to pursue postsecondary education.
Creed Promise Yourself To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet. To make all your friends feel that there is something in them. To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true. To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best.
Vision Optimist International will be recognized worldwide as the premier volunteer organization that values all children and helps them to develop to their full potential.
Mission By providing hope and positive vision, Optimists bring out the best in kids.
Our Optimist Club Our Optimist Club is composed of dynamic, motivated individuals who use their life skills to benefit their community’s needs, especially the needs of our youth. As creative people, we constantly seek innovative ways to help our neighbors. Our club enjoys autonomy, elects its Board of Directors and therefore has the opportunity to take the necessary decisions concerning arising issues. This authority also allows us to create and implement programs specific to the needs of youth in our community. We are then able to organize fundraisers that will help the community’s youth.

March 2012

Congratulations are in order for another successful year of Optimism this past year. Henry DeBoon our most recent Past President held his Presidents Ball in March and provided the following awards to three outstanding club members.

Rookie of the Year went to David Ginter who became fully engaged in club activities and has proven to be a valuable member t the Piper Creek Optimists. Taking on the role as a club director, leading our Membership Drive and being a regular attendee to club meetings and activities has earned Dave this award.

The President’s Choice award went to Brad Balon. Brad has been active in planning and organizing fundraising events such as our Comedy Night, but also has been engaged in researching and fact finding of programs, projects and causes that our Piper Creek Club has an opportunity to support.

Our Optimist of the Year award went to Jon Murphy. Jon has been a very active member over the past couple years by chairing the Ladies Gala event and more recently, stepping up to be the club's secretary.
